In 2009 Magic Light Pictures produced a half hour animated
special based on The Gruffalo. First broadcast in the UK on
BBC One, on Christmas Day 2009, it was seen by over 10m
viewers and has since been nominated for both an Oscar and
BAFTA Film Award. The film has won numerous international
awards including the Prix Jeunesse, Best TV Special at Annecy
Animation Festival and two Pulcinella awards at Cartoons
on the Bay.

A second half hour, based on The Gruffalo's Child,
is currently in production for Christmas 2011.

We have also launched a high quality merchandising
programme which builds on the heritage of this special and
much loved property.
